The Edo State Governor Election Petition Court who sits in Abuja on Wednesday will give an assessment in the petition proposed by the Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Asue Ighodalo, challenged the results of the September 21 Governor Election in the Edo state.
The applicants challenged the Declaration of the Independent National Election Commission (Inec) on Monday Okpebholo from the Congress of All Progressive (APC) as the winner of the election.
They accused that the election was tainted by irregularities.
Inec stated that Okpebholo scored 291,667 votes to defeat Ighodalo, who received 247,655 votes.
Not satisfied with the results of the poll, PDP and its candidates approached the court to cancel the Inec declaration.
The Petitioners, among others, argued that the Governor Election was invalid due to alleged non-compliance with the provisions of the Election Law, 2022.
However, APC and Okpebholo urged the court to dismiss the petition because it was unfounded.
The respondents stated that the applicants failed to prove the accusations in their petition.

The panel consisting of three people led by Judge Wilfred KPochi, on March 3, ordered an assessment in the petition after the parties adopted their last written address.
The court will give an assessment in three marked petitions: EPT/ED/Gov/01/2024, EPT/ED/GOV/02/2024, and EPT/ED/GOV/03/2024.
The court on January 31 acknowledged in the evidence of the 148 Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVA) machine used during the poll behavior.
Electronic devices are tendered by senior technical officers at the Insc ICT department, Anthony Itodo, and recognized as evidence by the panel.
The applicants have summoned Inec to produce BVAS machines used in 133 voting units where the results of the election were debated.
