Army, Communications Company has revealed indigenous attack drones, bombs – Blueprint Newspapers Limited

In support of the efforts to combat insecurity in the states throughout the Federation, the Nigerian army, in collaboration with a communication company, Briech Uas, has shown and revealed the first and largest indigenous attack drones and bombs in Nigeria and Africa.

Speaking at the event held at the headquarters of the company on Wednesday in Abuja, the head of the defense staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, described the initiative as an important milestone in the journey of Nigeria towards self -sufficiency in defense technology and a significant step in strengthening national security skills.

Musa stressed that the development of combat drones was a timely intervention, highlighting their efficiency in the collection of intelligence.

He said these drones would facilitate decisive actions against threats in an era in which security challenges were increasingly complex and asymmetrical.

He said: “These force multipliers will play a vital role in improving the operational effectiveness of our military.

“Especially in a world where global policy surrounding the supply of advanced military hardware has become more complex.

“Countries that do not produce these solutions face bureaucratic chokes and diplomatic obstacles during the acquisition of these critical platforms. We are facing these challenges directly.

“If you don’t produce what you need, you will be at the mercy of others, even when you have financial resources to acquire them.

“By producing these drones at the local level, Nigeria reduces its dependence on foreign resources, guarantees rapid acquisition and strengthens its ability to quickly respond to safety threats.

“With the bright minds we have, in particular among our young people, we can create an exceptional technology that competes globally.”

For his part, the governor of the plateau, Caleb Mutfwang, said that Nigeria’s growth depends on the recognition and patronage of indigenous products.

Mutfwang said that drones would play a fundamental role in the protection of national sovereignty both in the plateau and throughout the nation.

He revealed that some of these technologies made locally had already been deployed on the plateau, significantly improving the efficiency of the earth forces.

He also observed that his state was collaborating with manufacturers of bombs and local drones such as Briech Uas to counter the insurrection using weapons produced at national level.

He said: “As a nation, we made a mistake by allowing non -state actors to acquire skills that almost compete with those of the state actors.

“We have entered into a partnership that has allowed the deployment of these structures in our state.

“We have witnessed significant improvements in the efficiency of our security forces.

“In fact, it was a mistake to allow non -state actors to accumulate capacity that almost survive those of the legitimate state forces. It is time to correct this imbalance.

“We must guarantee that no one within our borders has abilities that correspond or exceed those entrusted to the constitutional duty to protect our national sovereignty.”

Even speaking, the president of Briech Uas, dr. Bright Echefu, he said that groups of rebels such as Boko Haram and Iswap have recently adopted commercial drones for reconnaissance and attack missions.

“These drones have been used to trace and attack our troops. They are distributed to coordinate ambushes and run raw air strikes,” he said.
