Rory Mcilroy says that he finally realizes his dream of completing his career that the Grand Slam “will free” him to achieve further success in sport.
The golfist of Northern Ireland has become one of an elite group of only six players to win all four men’s major when he beat Justin Rose in England in a playoff to claim his first Masters title in Augusta.
The triumph of the 35 -year -old also concluded an wait of 11 years from his last great victory at the 2014 Open Championship. He won the US Open in 2011 and the PGA Championship in the United States in 2012 and 2014 and since then he had several left -handed.
“Get the Masters, the career Grand Slam, the fifth major, removing all this. I think it will allow me to play with much more freedom,” Mcilroy said to Stephen Watson of BBC Sport Ni in Augusta.
“I really think it will free me. A lot of time has passed.”
Mcilroy joins a list of great golfs to win all four main tournaments of sport.
He added: “I don’t think he will sank for a while. There were only five other players in the story that did it – Jack [Nicklaus]Tiger [Woods]Gary Player, Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, The Creme de la Creme of Golf.
“Think I have been able to put my name next to theirs.
“I had a small reception with the members [at Augusta] And I said ‘I’ll be Go to the dinner of that champion Every Tuesday evening and they will have to take me out of here until I am 90. “
