Using AI, Google suspended 39 million ad account for alleged fraud

The Google search engine giant has suspended no less than 39 million advertiser accounts on its platform for intensifying its latest hard action on advertising fraud and policy violations.

The number of deferred accounts specified has violated strict Google ad regulations, including imitation, malware, and fraud, is one of the biggest reported, representing the 29% increase from 2023.

Users throughout Asia, Africa, Europe and America are influenced by global prohibitions that target regions with high fraud activities and due to general violations such as phishing efforts and promotion of dangerous or cheating products.

Google in a statement says that they can suspend “most” ad accounts before they even run advertisements using the Large Language Model (LLM) and signs including fraudulent payment information and company imitation.

“Even though this AI model is very important for us and has provided a series of impressive improvements, we still have people involved during the process,” said Alex Rodriguez, general manager for advertising safety on Google, at the virtual media round table.
