The Super Eagles striker, Umar Sadiq, admitted that his equalizer in the 1-1 draw in Valencia against Rayo Vallecano was not as simple as it seemed.
According to the Nigerian striker, the objective required rapid improvisation in a division situation.
Valencia made the trip to Vallecas Stadium on Saturday in search of crucial points, but they found themselves following just before part -time after César Tarrega without realizing a crossing of Pedro Díaz on his own network under pressure of Randy Ntena de Rayo.
Sadiq, who started the game at the bank, was introduced in the 66th minute by chief coach Carlos Corberán. Just nine minutes later, left his mark.
The 28 -year -old launched into a low cross inside the box and tried to guide the ball home, just to see it crash against the post.
From a sitting position after the initial effort, Sadiq reacted instinctively using his head to guide the rebound beyond the goalkeeper of the fight and the network.
“It was not easy,” Sadiq said after the game. “I met the first post, I touched the ball, hit the goal and returned to me. It was supposed to enter the beginning, but he returned to me again. So it was not an easy goal.”
The objective was the fifth of Sadiq in 12 appearances in the League since the Che in Loan of the Royal Society joined in January.
Umar Sadiq has not only helped Valencia avoid descent concerns, but also caused conversations of a possible impulse for European qualification.
However, Valencia will have to face without him at his next exit against Espanyol, since he picked up his fifth yellow letter from the season and is suspended.
