…Deputy Chief Whip calls on supporters to bury primary grievances and begin grassroots mobilisation

The Deputy Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ibrahim Isiaka Ayokunle, supported the candidacy of the Hon. with all his strength. Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye for Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, urging members of the All Progressives Congress to close ranks and work towards the party’s victory.
Isiaka gave the assurance on Thursday at a meeting with his supporters and other APC stakeholders in Ifo, organized under the auspices of the EasyLife movement, where he called for reconciliation following the party’s primary elections.
The meeting brought together APC leaders and stakeholders from Ifo and Ewekoro local government areas, including the former Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Olakunle Oluomo; The Commissioner for Local Government and Capital Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat; Ifo APC Chairman, Barr. Olumide Oduwole; and the Chairman of Ewekoro APC, Chief Ayinde Sogbamu.
Also present were the two local government chairmen, Idris Kushimo and Sikiru Adesina; House of Assembly candidates for Ifo I and Ewekoro, Fola Salami and Abiodun Adeleye; Governor’s Liaison Officers; members of the local government and the district executive committee; and other party leaders.
Addressing the gathering, Isiaka said the conclusion of the APC primary elections should mark the beginning of reconciliation rather than further division among party members.
He said the primaries produced candidates for various elected positions and urged those who contest or support different tendencies to put their differences behind them.
According to him “there should be no resentment, bitterness or actions that could undermine the unity of the party”.
Isiaka specifically reaffirmed his support for Adeleye as the APC candidate for Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency and urged his supporters to work with other members of the party to ensure her election and the victory of other APC candidates in 2027.
He expressed confidence that the party will improve on its previous electoral performance in the constituency, urging members to return to their respective constituencies and initiate sustained grassroots mobilization and election campaigning.
Earlier, Chief Derin Adebiyi said the primary elections were over and should no longer be allowed to create acrimony among party members.
Adebiyi said the meeting, convened at the instance of Isiaka, was aimed at sustaining unity among his supporters and strengthening cohesion within the wider APC family.
He urged party members in Ifo and Ewekoro to reconcile their differences and mobilize voters for Adeleye and other APC candidates.
Party leaders, including Hamzat, Oduwole and Sogbamu, praised Isiaka for what they described as his resilience and commitment to the APC.
They described the meeting as a demonstration of political maturity and loyalty to the party, stressing that the outcome of the primaries should not become a permanent dividing line between members.
They called on party faithful to move into neighborhoods and begin aggressive grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2027 elections.
In response, Adeleye thanked Isiaka for convening the meeting, describing it as an important demonstration of the party’s supremacy and commitment to the progressive ideals of the APC.
The former commissioner said the meeting reinforced the need for members to place party interests above individual ambitions and past disagreements.
He called on party leaders, former aspirants, women, youth, constituency leaders and grassroots mobilizers to embrace genuine reconciliation and make the 2027 elections a collective project.
Adeleye said she was ready to work with all party members, regardless of the positions they took during the primary elections.
He described every party member, political structure and supporter as a necessary asset to ensure the victory of the APC.
“In the spirit of this meeting, I therefore urge all members of the party to return to their various neighborhoods with renewed commitment and unity, translating the spirit of reconciliation into massive votes for the APC and a decisive victory in Ifo/Ewekoro and across our dear state,” he said.
