The Nigerian army has distanced themselves from recruitment advertisements that are currently circulating online, warning citizens that the announcement is cheating.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Lt.-Col. Appolonia Anele, clarifies that recruit recruitment exercises for the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) and the Short Service Commission (SSC) do not come from the military.
Anele stressed that the Nigerian Army had not yet begun the process of recruitment or commissioning for 2024, and warned members of the community not to be involved with misleading information.

“The Nigerian army urged the public to ignore false notifications and to find information only through an official communication platform,” he said, adding that the military would officially announce every authentic recruitment exercise through a verified channel at the right time.
Army spokesman also raised concerns over fraudsters who used such fake advertisements to deceive and blackmail job seekers who were not suspicious.
“We warn all to be careful and avoid the prey of fraudsters who exploit false information for personal gain. Anyone who has credible information about fraud or individual activities must immediately report to the relevant authority for the necessary actions,” Anele said.
