Wike ordered a hard action against illegal hospitals at FCT

Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has ordered total Klemdown in unregistered hospitals and shaman medical officers operating in the city.

The minister, according to a statement issued on Saturday by his senior special assistant on public communication and social media, Lere Olayinka, gave direction while reacting to the death of a pregnant woman in a private health facility in Durumi, Abuja.

The 35 -year -old victim identified as Chekwube Chinagorom was taken to the Died Asokoro District Hospital.

The woman died after the Caesarean section in unregistered private facilities operating in Durumi, Abuja,

Wike warns that anyone who finds operating illegal facilities or works in unregistered health facilities will be captured and prosecuted.

The statement reads: “It is unfortunate that regardless of free registration of pregnant women into the Federal Region Health Insurance (FHIS) scheme, most pregnant women still do not use the scheme.

“At FCT, people who are vulnerable, including pregnant women, enjoy free registration to FHIS.

“This allows them to access free to all services included in the minimum minimum health service package, through a primary health care center.

“Also, in harmony with the ‘new hope agenda’ federal government and FCTA zero tolerance led by Wike for maternal death, several hospitals in FCT, including Gwarinpa, Nyanya, Abaji, and Kuje General Hospital.

“This facility also offers Caesarean section for free.”
