Lagos police arrested eight suspects in oppression for the murder of Yabatech cult

The Lagos State Police Command has succeeded in arresting eight people who are believed to be associated with a series of murder related to worship that has disturbed the Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech) and the surrounding community.

The arrest was executed on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, after the operation was driven by intelligence carried out by the Tactical Command Unit.

According to a statement issued by the Lagos Police Commander Community Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin on Wednesday, the operation resulted in the arrest of the suspects, who were very involved in a series of new cult violence in the Yabatech area.

The statement detailed the operation: “Tactical Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command Have Arrested Eight Suspects Involved in Several Cult-related Killings within Yaba College of Technology And Its Environs in an Intelligence-Led Operation, Which Stook Place on April 29, 2025. The police operation also caused the recovery of weapons cache from the arrested suspect, including firearms and offensive tools. “During the operation, the following exhibition was discovered from the suspects: one betta pistol, four 9mm ammunition, one cartridge, two battle axes, and two ponds.

The Lagos State Police Command has convinced the public that the arrested people will be held accountable for their alleged crime. “Members of the community are convinced that the suspects will be made to face full laws,” the statement confirmed.
