Ganduje defends an increasingly large political defector, saying the system of one party is not a threat to democracy

National Chairperson of all Progressive Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has defended a wave of increasing consciousness from the opposition to the ruling APC, insisting that the prospect of a state-party state is not inherent in a problem if it appears through democratic consensus.

Ganduje made a statement on Friday after leading the delegation of three senators from the Kebbi state to a meeting with the President of the Tinubu Bola at the President’s villa. The senators, Adamu Aleier, Yahaya Abdullahi, and Garba Maidoki, previously members of the Democratic People’s opposition (PDP), officially stated their intention to join APC.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Ganduje underestimated concerns about Nigerian implications that tilted towards the one -party system, referring to the Chinese political structure as a functioning example.

“We came here so that the president can bless this resolution, and Mr. President gracefully did it,” said Ganduje. “On Tuesday, I pushed you to go and see what would happen in the room.”

Responding to the question of whether the Flood of Consideration can damage the democratic diversity of Nigeria, Ganduje said: “If the country is one party is a desire and blessing for Nigeria … One party is not forced. “

He added: “They said too many chefs damaged the broth. Likewise, too many political parties can complicate the government. China is one of the strongest countries in the world, and runs a system of one party.”

While Ganduje quickly clarified that APC did not explicitly pursue the agenda of one party, he emphasized that the party would continue to welcome the defectors who were in harmony with their vision.

“We don’t say we work for a one -party system,” he said. “But if that’s what Nigerians want, and if people join us because of beliefs, not coercion, then we cannot fight with the will of the people.”
