The Joint Revenue and Matriculation Council (Jamb) has begun rescheduling Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for 379,997 candidates who are influenced by technical problems during the new exam.
The rescheduling process began on Thursday, following the announcement by Jamb registrants, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, during the press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday.
Prof. Oloyede acknowledged that a total of 206,610 candidates in 65 centers in Lagos, and 173,387 candidates in 92 centers in the Oowerri zone, consisting of five southeastern states were affected by disturbances.
“I apologize; I take full responsibility,” he said, emphasizing the commitment of the council to improve the situation.
Affected candidates have begun to receive text messages with details of their new examination schedule. For example, one candidate has been rescheduled to take the exam on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 12:00 in a center located in the Igando community in the area of Alimosho’s local government, Lagos state.
Jamb has convinced all candidates who are affected that they will be given another opportunity to take part in the examination, and have urged them to reprint their inspection slip to confirm their new date and place.
The council continues to investigate the causes of technical problems and apply steps to prevent events in the future, reiterate their dedication to maintain the integrity of the inspection process.
