People from the Forward Operating Base (FOB), the Nigerian Navy, have intercepted the wooden boat which is loaded with 90,000 liters of stolen crude oil in the Araromi River Community in the Regional Government of the Regional Government in Ondo State.
Commander, FOB, Captain Aliyu Usman, told reporters on Friday at Igbokoda that the operation followed a credible intelligence in illegal bunkering activities in the area.
Usman said: “Initial investigations revealed that the crude oil was sourced illegally from the head of the oil well left behind which was off the coast at Igbokoda and was outside lagos before the intersection.
“When observing the Navy team, the suspects who manage the ship fled to the river with the accompanying speedboat, avoiding the arrest.
“Navy personnel restore the key goods from a stopped ship, including three pumping engines, long release hoses, and two high-powered paste machines used for navigation.

“The boat and all the recovered equipment have been processed in accordance with the existing defense headquarters regulations.
“The latest interception underlines the navy’s sustainable efforts to curb oil theft and uphold the integrity of Nigeria’s vital oil infrastructure.”
The commander reiterated the unwavering Nigerian Navy’s commitment to protect the state maritime domain and protect critical national assets.
