The court postponed the indictment of the chairman of AMAC for alleged falsification of certificates without time limit

The Dutse Magistrates Court in Abuja on Friday postponed the indictment of the Chairman of the Abuja City Area Council (AMAC), Mr. Christopher Maikalu, indefinitely.

The head judge, Abdullahi Ipela, postponed this case while waiting for the results of a court review in the Federal Capital High Court (FCT).

He postponed this issue after Maikaluu’s lawyer, Charles Okoye, told the court that the case had been subject to a review before Chief Justice Aliyu Shaffa from the FCT High Court.

A member of all the Progressive Congress (APC), Awalu Mohammed, filed a complaint of the Chairperson of AMAC in this case with No. CR/DUT/324/25, dated March 24.

The complainant has accused that Maikaligang submitted a certificate of leaving the first school that was falsified from the Road Primary School Festival to the Independent National Election Commission (Inec) on January 8, 2013.

He accused that fake certificates were among other documents included in the “Inec CF 001 form, for the position of the council, knowing that it was falsified and with the intention that it could be used or acting as original.”

Mohammed also accused that the Chairman of AMAC submitted a certificate of leaving the first school from the Elementary School of Science Model Lea to the Commission in May 2021.

At the trial on Friday, the complainant advisor, Ayub Israel, told the court that the problem was scheduled to be mentioned and that he was ready to continue.

Although Okoye did not oppose Israel’s submission, he told the court that the problem was currently before the FCT High Court and that the order had been served in court.

He said all the efforts made to influence the order service on the complainant were unsuccessful.

“We are limited to serving the advisor to complain the order, but the contact is not available,” he said.

Okoye, therefore, urged the court to allow the problem to comply with the order of Judicial Review.

Israel, who did not mind, recognized that based on the high court orders, his client was bound by the same.

He, however, prayed for the trial that was accelerated in this matter.
