Nasarawa United technical advisor Mbwas Mangut celebrated his team’s victory over Rivers United.

The Solid Miners defeated 5-3 on penalties in their President Federation Cup round of 16 match in Awka on Saturday.

Nasarawa United squandered a two-goal lead as Rivers United came back from 2-0 down to force the game into extra time.

“This victory reserves us a place in the quarterfinals of the competition. We were beaten, tested, but intact,” Mangut told the club’s media.

“Letting a 2-0 lead slip away at such a dying moment is the most dangerous result in football.

“Many teams will not survive that, but I thank God and praise my charges for the character shown from the place.

“Honestly, what you need to go deeper into this competition is that it doesn’t offer you a second chance to make amends.”
