Date of PDP NEC Date for the National Convention

The Democratic People’s Party (PDP) has held a meeting of the 99th National Executive Committee (NEC), which was held on Tuesday at the attachment party headquarters, Legacy House, in Abuja.

After the meeting, the party announced that they had received and ratified the composition of the National Convention Committee and approved the behavior of the national convention on Thursday, 28 to Saturday, August 30, 2025.

During the meeting, Acting Chairperson, Umar Damagum, presented communication and confirmed that NEC had received a resolution from the Southeast Zonal executive regarding the position of the National Secretary.

Damagum announced that the problem would be handled at the next NEC meeting, scheduled on Monday, June 30.

Communike reads in part, “On the side of the PDP, NEC declared our party’s trust in democracy, the rule of law and the supremacy of the people’s will as expressed through their free and unmakened democratic participation in politics and multi-party governance.

“The success of the 99th NEC meeting clearly communicates the unity and focus of our party regardless of challenges.

“Based on the provisions of the PDP Constitution, NEC received and ratified the composition of the National Convention Committee and approved the behavior of the national convention on Thursday, 28 to Saturday, August 30, 2025.

“NEC also received and ratified the composition of the committee regarding national office zoning ahead of the national convention.

“Members of the Zoning Committee are Governor Doubleye himself -Chairman, Governor of Dauda Lawal -Vice Chairperson and Governor Caleb Mutfwang -Secretary. Members of the National Convention Committee are Governor Ahmadu Fintiri -Ketua, Governor Adeleke -Wakil Chairman of the Governor.

“NEC also accepted the executive resolution of Southeast Zonal in connection with the problem of our party’s national secretary. NEC decided to consider the resolution of the executive of the Southeast Zonal at the next NEC meeting scheduled to be held on Monday, June 30, 2025.”

In his remarks, the Chairperson of the PDP Governor Forum and the Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, raised fears of the challenges faced by party elected officials, accused that the Federal government had used intimidation tactics.

He said, “As governor, we have gone through many things. There are so many traps of Booby, satire, political movements that have been carried out. Today, we have been bombarded by the problem of coalitions, buyers – limiting limits that even affect some of our members.

“Our members stand strong and firmly. There is no intimidation that we do not experience. There is no caress or persuaded the elected members and governors, if you ask one of them. But of course, we are firm. We will not leave the mandate.”

Before the NEC meeting began, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Senator Adolphus Wabara, acknowledged that many party challenges were carried out by themselves. However, he praised PDP for eternal commitment to democratic ideals and national unity.

He said, “As the People’s Party, we must be committed to healing this wound and restoring faith among our members. As chairman of the Supervisory Board, party conscience, I call all US leaders, elders, youth, and stakeholders to embrace reconciliation, not only as political tactics, but as moral imperatives.

“There is no ambition, no complaints, and there is no misunderstanding that may be allowed to override the collective interests of our party and the hopes of the Nigerians who crave our return with national leadership.

“Let’s start the original and structural reconciliation process led by respected elders who reach the grassroots and reach out to peace to all members who are harmed, both old and new.

“Our doors must remain open to fresh ideas, open to new members, open to all Nigerians who believe in justice, justice, and good government.

“Let the 99th meeting be remembered as a turning point, a moment where we choose unity rather than a division, hope for despair, and serving on personal interests. Let’s return to the grassroots with new enthusiasm, clear goals, and firmly to reclaim our place as a party that not only knows Nigeria but really loves Nigeria.
