“Abuja has changed in a year”: Ortom Lauds Wike’s Performance in …

The former governor of the state of Benue Samuel Ortom

The former governor of the State of Benue Samuel Ortom praised the federal minister of the territory of the capital (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for various projects performed in Abuja.

Ortom expressed admiration for the transformation that takes place through Abuja, including the main road works, the construction of world -class bus terminals and the introduction of a painted taxi system aimed at reorganizing the city’s transport sector.

Ortom, who worked as Minister under the former President Goodluck Jonathan, said he had never seen the level of infrastructure development currently taking place in the FCT under the guidance of Wike.

The former governor declared him during an inspection tour of projects in progress in Abuja together with Wike on Friday 30 May 2025.

He said: β€œI saw several FCT ministers, but this is the first time that has been witnessing monumental development in Abuja.

“I am very proud of what my friend and colleague, Nyesom Wike, is doing.”

Ortom said that despite being a long -standing resident of the FCT, the speed and scope of developments under Wike had left him for needing a guide to navigate the city.

“I have lived in Abuja since 2008, but with what I see today I need a guide to move. Here is how much the city has changed in just one year,” added the former governor.

Ortom also praised President Bola Tinubu for putting national interest above politics by appointing Wike, a member of the Democratic Party of opposition people (PDP), head of the Ministry of FCT.

“If Mr. President was a partisan leader, he would not have appointed Wike, who comes from the opposition. But he saw the ability, and this is the leadership,” he observed.

The former governor, therefore, urged the Nigerians to put aside political affiliations and support the administration of Tinubu in his efforts to transform the country, in particular through the work done to Abuja by Wike.

“Mr. President alone cannot repair Nigeria. We have to join him, regardless of the affiliations of the party. We put aside politics and support what is good,” said Ortom.
