Boko Haram’s invincibility and Zulum compass

The accusation of the Governor Babagana Zulum of the State of Borno according to which some Nigerian politicians and the military personnel are among those who collaborate and who lose information to the terrorists of Boko Haram is too heavy to be swept under the carpet or be fired with a wave of the hand.

Evidently, the loss of information is encouraging terrorists and is responsible for the rebirth of terrorism, especially in the north-east, north-west and in the geo-political areas of the center-political north.

Zulum, who launched the alarm in an interview on the penultimate of national television on Wednesday, said that the insurrection could be conquered in six months, ensuring that his administration will continue to strengthen the intelligence to face the sordid situation.

He said: “We have informants and collaborators within the Nigerian armed forces, within politicians and within the communities. What we will do is strengthen our intelligence and face them ruthlessly.

Zulum added that the only sun measures would not stop insecurity in the north-east, adding that even security agencies and the government must adopt non-kinetic measures to face the threat.

“We remove the counterattacocracy. In six months, we can put an end to this madness. We do not need to politicize insecurity. I cannot completely say that 100 % of those people who have surrendered are doing the right thing, but I want to make sure that over 99 % are doing well and do not participate in the current terrorism.

“The insurrection will never be finished only with kinetic measures. We must guarantee that even non -Kinetic measures are adequately implemented. What I mean by non -Kinetic measures are the social, political and economic dimensions of the crisis. Our non -Kinetic measures have produced positive results with the support of the Nigerian military”, said the governor.

On repentant fighters, he said: “Yes, I believe among the 500,000 or more who have repented, I cannot exclude the possibility that some of them return to the bush”.

Governor Zulum, whose state is the epicenter of the lethal activities of the terrorists of Boko Haram/Iswap, is not the first high profile official to blow up the whistle on terrorist informants and their collaborators in the corridors of power.

President Goodluck Jonathan had had January 8, 2012, admitted that Boko Haram’s terrorists managed to infiltrate his government, planting his members in government agencies and security clothes.

The then president made the statement during a service in the church at the National Ecumenical Center Abuja as part of the annual celebrations of the day of the Armed Forces. Jonathan’s statement came after a senator on duty was arrested, a judge was fired and a security staff was investigated for their alleged involvement with Boko Haram.
The terrorists of Boko Haram have become the largest security challenge of Nigeria, operating amorphously and bombing innocent Nigerians, also in churches and mosques. So far the government has not been able to contain the terrorist group, stop its fatal activities and stop what a slide appears to anarchy.
An obviously defenseless Jonathan said he believed Boko Haram had sympathizers in the government, in the national assembly and even security agencies. He complained that the threat of Boko Haram was worsening the Nigerian civil war in which over a million people were killed.

“During the civil war, we knew and we could even predict where the enemy came from,” said the then president. “You can even know the path from which they come, you can even know which caliber of weapons will use and so on.”

He described the terrorists of Boko Haram as Mysterious, saying that some people in the North had told him that their children were possible to belong to the sect without them knew it.

“Some continue to immerse your hands and eat with you and you will not even know the person who will point you a gun or will slow a bomb behind your home,” added Jonathan.

Blueprint It is annoyed that 13 years after the statements of the former president, the situation, rather than the demolition, has instead deteriorated in such a way that a governor in office would have reason to vent his frustration publicly. This is as unacceptable as it is reprehensible.

We ask the competent authorities to weigh and fish all the marked eggs of the government, including the manager, the legislature and the judiciary, as well as the military, who are collaborating and providing information to terrorists.

All those found guilty of the deed that borders on a crime and traditionable genocide must be made to face the full anger of the law to serve as a deterrence to appreciate the minds.

The myth that surrounds the invincibility and intractability of the insurgents, which have triggered chaos on unfortunate Nigerians in the last two decades, must be revealed. Thanks to the Governor Zulum for his patriotic disposition in providing the compass to achieve this noble goal.
