The main opposition party in the state of Enugu, the Labor Party, LP, Thursday, lost another member against the Popular Democratic Party (PDP).
The member who represents the electoral college of the western state of Nsukka, Hon. Malachy Okey Onyechi, resigned from his party and opted for the party to power in the state.
Onyechi, who was welcomed by the members of the PDP in the Chamber, said he had been pushed to download his party for the PDP because of the “in -depth crisis” that persecuted his party, the Labor party at national level.
He also claimed to be happy with the way the governor Peter Mbah has piloted the state in the last two years, especially in the sector of the supply of dividends on democracy.
Onyechi’s defection led to eight LP members who passed to the party in power.
Last year, six members of the opposition passed to PDP in one day, thus opening the explosions of the defections that even some members of the state representatives of the state have equally downloaded LP for PDP.
The main straw that broke the LP in the state of Enugu is the return of Hon. Chijoke Edoga, former candidate for the governor of the Labor Party in the government elections of 2023.
President of the House, Hon. Uche Ugwu, who read Onyechi’s defection of defection, asked him to endure to recognize that he was the letter and that he was not under compulsion.
