Naptip refuses Speed Darlington’s speed on June 12th, a legal action weighs

The National Agency for the prohibition of Trafficking in Person (NapTP) has rejected a date of appearance proposed by the controversial musician Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, and is taking into consideration a legal action following his inability to honor a formal call.

The agency is investigating Okoye for a viral video of Live Instagram in which he presumably admitted to engage in sexual activity with a 15 -year -old girl, a declaration that triggered widespread public indignation and requires responsibility.

The government of the Lagos state promptly reported the accident in Naptyp, pushing the agency to convene Okoye to appear in its abuja headquarters on May 30th.

However, he did not show up, instead proposing a new date of June 26, citing previous commitments.

“I won’t be able to enter today … I already have commitments. I suggest you reprogrammate for next month, June 26.

“I will be in Abuja that day,” said Okoye in a message to the agency.

Naptip, however, firmly stopped his request. In an answer signed by Hakeem Lawal, director of the response to tic and computer crime, the agency underlined the urgency of the matter, stating that the accusations are of “national importance” and not subject to personal programming.

The agency then extended a final deadline for Okoye to appear on June 2 at 13:00, but was unable to present himself.

A high official has revealed that legal action is now in serious consideration.

“He was unable to appear twice despite having been granted the additional time.

“We will not work in his condition. The law applies to everyone in the same way,” said the official.

With the concerns that increase a possible attempt to evade justice, the Chief Press Officer of NAPTP, Vincent Adekoye, confirmed that the agency is working with the immigration service of Nigeria and other security agencies to prevent any Okoye attempt from fleeing the country.

“The NaptyP is proactive and has activated the necessary partnerships. We are not leaving anything to chance,” said Adekoye, adding that state and non -state actors are involved in the efforts to take into account Okoye.

In the meantime, Naptip is also examining the legal options in the light of the ongoing judicial workers’ strike, which could affect the rapidity with which the question proceeds in court.
