NRC rejects safety concerns over Warri-Itakpe rails, calling a misleading virus clip

Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) has explicitly convinced the public that training operations along the Warri-Itakpe corridor remains safe, reliable, and in full operation of viral social media videos that suggest the opposite.

In a statement issued on Monday by Mr. Callistus Unyimadu, Acting Deputy Director of Public Relations at the NRC, the corporation condemned videos circulating as misleading and baseless.

“NRC’s attention has been interested in broad social media messages that warn the public to avoid train trips, especially along the Warri-Itakpe railroad corridor,” Unyimadu said.

“Message, accompanied by a short video showing the release of the train that was released, wrongly claimed that the current train transportation was not safe and urged passengers to cancel the travel plan.”

Overcoming direct concern, the NRC clarifies that the clip illustrates an isolated case in which several rail clips are temporarily deleted during the maintenance inspection. The problem, however, is handled quickly.

“We want to state categorically that this information is misleading and baseless,” he repeated.

Unyimadu confirmed that the maintenance team had immediately improved the affected part, ensuring there was no interference to train passenger schedules or safety.

“All safety and operational protocols needed are strictly followed to ensure that there is no threat caused to passengers or the integrity of railroad operations. Indeed, Warri-Itakpe Train (WITS) has made it through the affected part without any incident, further confirming the safety of the route,” he added.

NRC emphasizes its sustainable commitment to high -level safety standards in all corridors. Unyimadu noted that NRC tracking, trains, and support infrastructure were under ** constant supervision and proactive maintenance.

“Therefore, we urge the public to ignore viral messages and continue to use our train services with confidence. Every effort to spread fear or prevent the use of train transportation damage the progress made in this sector and must be condemned,” he said.

He also advised passengers to continue to get information only through the NRC communication platform that was verified for travel updates and safety information.

“The train service in the Warri-Itakpe corridor and all other NRC corridors remain safe, reliable, and full operations,” Unyimadu stressed.

When Nigeria expanded railroad infrastructure, NRC asked the public to believe in its operations and reject the wrong information designed to frustrate public trust in rail transportation.
