Aliko Dangote retires as President of the Sugar Sugar Refinery

The president of Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc, Aliko Dongite, will retire from the Board of Directors starting from 16 June 2025, after two decades of leadership.

According to the company, the decision has aligned itself with principles of good company of corporate government and succession.

The secretary of the company, Temitope Hassan, who announced it in a statement on Wednesday, said that the Pension of Dangote marked the end of an era that redefined the Nigeria sugar industry.

Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc praised the exceptional leadership of Dangote, saying: “Alhaji Aliko Dangote is one of the company’s founding directors and served with an exceptional leadership, integrity and vision since 2005.”

Under his leadership, the company has transformed, sailed in significant developments in the sector and has provided a constant value of shareholders.

To ensure continuity, the Council appointed Mr. Arnold Ekpe, currently an independent non -executive director, as president coming, starting from June 16th.

“His strategic acumen, the profound understanding of the corporate government and the commitment to the value of the interested parties make it well positioned to guide the Board of Directors,” said the company.

Ekpe offers vast experience from senior leadership roles in the banking sector and other key industries.

His appointment should guide sustainable growth and rely on the strong bases of the company.
