The police thwarted the kidnapping plot, the arrest of wanting the suspect in Ogun

The police operation in Ogun has thwarted the planned kidnapping and arrested a suspected kidnapping suspect who had long been cut, Clement Elia, in the Abigi area in the state.

The suspect has avoided the arrest since 2024.

Spokesman for the State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, said in a statement on Tuesday that Elia was tracked and captured by anti-child unit operators after he returned to the Ibiade community on June 13, who allegedly kidnapped a prominent resident at the Village last Abigi.

He said: “Elijah arrived at the Ibiade community on June 13, 2025, and planned to kidnap a prominent individual in the last Village, Abigi, but his scary mission was thwarted through collaboration on time between police and alert residents.”

“Elijah was in the run after his involvement in the case of kidnapping high profiles in Ajelanwa Village last year. Two of the alleged accomplices had previously been captured in connection with the same case.

“Only three days after the arrest of Elijah, follow -up operations caused the arrest of gangs that were allegedly armourers, POSI Friday. During the raid, officers recovered pumping rifles, locally made pistols, and eight cartridges hidden in the speaker boom.

“Praising the rapid response of the community and police, Police Commissioner, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, praised the population of the Ibiad and Abigi for their important role in helping law enforcement disrupting criminal activities.

“We respect sustainable communication and support from the community. Their role is very important in preventing other crimes and in the arrest of these suspects.”
