A former governor of the state of Jigawa, Sule Lamido, pointed his finger at President Bola Tinubu, saying that he was part of the people who supported the cancellation of the presidential elections of 12 June 1993.
Lamido said so while talking on TV on Saturday.
According to him, the mother of Tinubu, Hajia Mogaji, organized the market women of Lagos to come to Abuja to show support for the then head of state, Ibrahim Badamosis Babangida.
Lamido also stated that the national democratic coalition, Nadeco, was formed to fight for the deceased General Sani Abacha and not for June 12th.
He said: “I feel very entertained by the rhetoric of Tinubu, the way he is dramatizing his role in Nigerian democracy.
“Tinubu became relevant and evident after Abbacha took over the government; before then, he was in the Senate while I was the national secretary of the party.
“It was part of those who supported the cancellation of the elections of 12 June.
“Her mother, Hajia Mogaji, was organizing the women of the Lagos market to come to Abuja to commit themselves to supporting Babangida.
“Tinubu was actively hand with Babangida. Nadeco was post-electoral training to fight Abacha not for June 12th.”
The elections of June 12 were won by Bashorun Mko Abiola. But in the end he was canceled by Babangida.
