Police arrest three masks to attack residents

The police officers arrested three masks for presumably attacked the residents of Nsukka in the state of Enugu.

The head of the public relations of the state police Enugu, SP Daniel Ndukwe, made this known in a declaration issued on Tuesday 24 June 2025.

Ndukwe said the police officers, with the assistance of the members of the community, arrested the Masqueraders at 15:30 on Monday 23 June.

Ndukwe said that the arrest of the suspicions was in relation to the alleged physical assault of citizens by the “Orkpa Masquerade” as seen in a viral video.

He said: “The suspicions, together with others still in freedom, took advantage of the celebration of the masquerade of” Orkpa “to attack several innocent members of the public, inflicting physical injuries on them.

“One of the victims was hospitalized due to injuries suffered during the attack.

“The masks have initially resisted the arrest of the police and fled the scene.

“However, with the assistance of the members of the community respectful of the law, the three suspects were subsequently identified and arrested.”

The police spokesman added that the police commissioner of the state of Enugu, Mamman Giwa, had ordered an in -depth investigation on the case to ensure that justice had served.
