The Democratic Party of people (PDP) restored senator Samuel Anyanwu as national secretary and has postponed the meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) previously scheduled for June 30.

This decision was announced on Wednesday by the National Party President of the Party, Urar Damagum, during a Briefing Printing at the National Secretariat of the PDP in Abuja.

The Briefing It followed a meeting behind closed doors with officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INC).

Damagum, reached by the governor of the state of Bauchi Bala Mohammed, the former president of the Senate Bukola Saraki and other important party leaders, described the move as a “difficult but necessary” step that had obtained a broad support within the party.

“Senator Samuel Anyanwu has been restored to the national work committee as national secretary,” said Damagum.

“It was a difficult decision, but it was accepted by the key organs of the party.”

He also observed that instead of keeping the NEC meeting on June 30, the party will take place a session of Caucus enlarged to deliberate on the street to follow.

“Since the INC has not received a formal notice from us, it will instead hold a meeting in Caucus extended on June 30th. A corrected NEC meeting will follow,” Damagum explained.
