“It would be something pride for Kwara United to return with the trophy” – Alhaji Wopa

President of the Emirate Football Council of Ilorin and the Local Football Council of Ilorin West, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Owolabi Adebayo Wopa, has gathered support behind Kwara United before her history of the Historical Federation Cup with Abakaliki FC scheduled for Saturday, June 28, 2025.

Passionately speaking before the very expected final, Alhaji Wopa expressed his pride as Kwaran and asked the children of harmony to do everything and make history for the state.

“I want the boys to go up to the field on Saturday and make the State pride by beating Abakaliki FC. It would be a historical feat and a proud moment for all the Kwarans. Personally, it would mean a lot for me, it would have once served as vice president of the club, seeing that the team would return with the trophy would bring me great joy.”

The football administrator also praised those who work behind the scene for the club’s progress this season.

“I appreciate the management of the club, skillfully directed by Kunbi Titiloye, for his tireless work to take the team to this stage. I also thank the executive governor of the state of Kwara, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, for his unwavering support, as well as the executive executive president of the State Commission of Kwara and the president of the Kwara football association for his efforts in general.

Alhaji Wopa took a moment to reflect on the past, taking lessons out of history while warning supporters.

“I want to urge fans to be ordered and of good behavior. We all remember what happened in 1976 when Aliyu Salam Rocks lost in the final. The Kwarans broke into lakes in large quantities, but unfortunately, things did not come out on our way. Let’s ensure that the story is made this time for the right reasons.” Concluded.
