Ada: AYCF faces El-Ruphai, Amaechi for the accusations on Iner

The advisory forum for the young people of Arewa (AYCF) criticized the former governors of the States of Kaduna and the El-Rufai and Rotimi Amaechi rivers-Nasir on their recent statements according to which the Independent National Electoral Commission (INC) was deliberately frustrating the recording of a new political party, All Democratic Alliance (Ada).

In a declaration issued by its general president, Alhaji Yerima Shettimo, the youth group said that the accusations were not only unfounded but able to erode public trust in the democratic institutions of Nigeria in view of the general elections of 2027.

According to Shettimo, the inscription process of the INCC is guided by established rules and standard requirements such as the supply of office addresses and the documentation of the main officials of the parties, which all applicants must comply.

“The affirmation that the INNC is frustrating the opposition parties reflects a clear incorrect interpretation of the electoral guidelines of Nigeria,” said Shettimo.

He warned on politicize institutional processes, observing that Ada inability to meet the legal requirements should not be misunderstood as an act of political sabotage.

“It is a pity that in their frustration, the former governors Amaechi and El-Roma have chosen to present sensational requests rather than dealing with issues relating to compliance with the statutory provisions,” added Shettimo.

He claimed that AYCF recognizes the right of all groups to seek political representation, but stressed that these efforts must fall within the limits of the law.

“Democracy cannot thrive where the rules are folded or discarded to satisfy the ambitions of some. The INC must be allowed to operate without pressure or blackmail,” added the declaration.

The forum also condemned what described as “an increasing tendency between elite politicians to delegitimize democratic institutions to the political advantage”, exhorting all the parties interested in channeling their grievances through lawful avenues.

“The suggestion that the INC should relax its standards to welcome any group undermines the fundamental principles of responsibility and the right process,” said Shettimo.

While reaffirming its support for credible electoral reforms and inclusive governance, AYCF has invited political actors to promote a culture of constructive commitment and institutional respect.

He also urged the Incen to remain firm and impartial in assuming his responsibilities, insisting on the fact that respect for the electoral guidelines is essential to support the democratic gains of Nigeria.
