Federal Capital Region Minister (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said that the former Governor of Rivers Amaechi Rotimi was angry because he (Wike) used Rolls Royce.
Wike Apoke during the appearance on Channels’ television political program today on Friday.
His comments came when responding to questions about the performance of the former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, under the reign of the former President of Muhammadu Buhari.
The comment was a direct refutation of Amaechi’s new statement during the separate interview that his wife was “almost an industrialist.”
Rejecting the claim, Wike said: ” [Amaechi’s] Anger Is he seeing me using Rolls-Royce-and then what? It was not given to me by the contractor; A contractor gave him [his own]And that is a bribe. He took from the contractor, but I would not do that. He [Amaechi] is one of the most corrupt people. “
Wike also asked the federal government to release a long-awaited forensic audit report from the Delta Niger Development Commission (NDDC), which was ordered to investigate for years that was allegedly misinterbered in the agency.
The Minister accused that the audit report had been deliberately detained to protect people who might be involved in fraud. “Let the Ball President Ahmed Tinubu help us and release the NDDC forensic audit report,” Wike said. “Mr. President must help Nigerians.”
The forensic audit, assigned in 2021, under the Buhari government, was intended to examine financial transactions and the implementation of the NDDC project from the beginning of 2001 to August 2019

Wike further accused Amaechi’s wife of benefiting from the government’s contract during her husband’s term of office as governor, accused him of entering a monthly contract to train women in the Delta Niger region. However, he did not provide documentary evidence to support the claim.
Wike also made a brave claim regarding the contents of a forensic audit report, stating that the accusation would be proven by the findings. “Let them release the document. If what I say is not in the document, I will resign as Minister of FCT. I do not worship the office,” he said.
In addition, the Minister doubted Amaechi’s academic credentials, claiming that the former governor failed to graduate from Rivers State University. “Amaechi went to Rivers State University, but he could not pass,” said Wike.
While going back and forth between two former governors highlighted the in-depth political competition in the State of Rivers, Wike’s new call for the release of the NDDC audit report brought a focus on the old accusation of corruption in the commission.
NDDC has become the center of several high profile probes in recent years. In July 2020, a Committee of the House of Representatives investigating the commission was thrown into the controversy after determining the Delta Niger affairs at the time, Senator Godswill Akpabio, who was alleged during the trial that parliament members were one of the main beneficiaries of the NDDC contract.
Expected for evidence, Akpabio claimed: “We have a record to show that most of the contracts in NDDC are given to members of the National Assembly.”
The trial was further damaged by drama when the NDDC acting director, Professor Daniel Pondei, fainted when asked by parliament members after more than one hour of baking.
The controversy also triggered a war of words between Akpabio and former NDDC implementing director Joi Nunieh, who accused the ministry of disturbing commission operations. Nuniheh testified remotely through Zoom, making explosive accusations of corruption and abuse of position.
