Opit Lancia innovative to Copilot to transform online learning for African students

Open Institute of Technology (OPIT), an innovative global online university, announced the launch of opit to the Copilot, an advanced artificial intelligence assistant designed to revolutionize digital learning. This innovative development should significantly improve access and support for its current and future students from all over Africa.

With over 350 students from over 80 countries-ons to whom a growing number from Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya, the new Ai Copilot of Opit offers a personalized educational experience in real time that adapts to the learning journey of each student.
It is one of the first European institutions to introduce an artificial intelligence system so deeply integrated into its learning platform.
Artificial intelligence has been meticulously trained on over 3,500 hours of video content of the opit course, 131 courses and 320 evaluations developed in the last three years. Thanks to this rich archive, it can offer a highly contextual guide, connect directly to relevant sources and adapt its support based on the progress of a student in the course modules.

“This is a turning point for professionals who work and students throughout Africa who are balancing education with careers and family responsibilities,” said Riccardo Ocleppo, founder and OPTIT director. “Provides flexible access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to support the tutoring and the course, helping our students overcome the barriers of distance, time zones and academic complexity”.

The Copilota Ai goes beyond the assistance of the student. During the exams, it moves automatically to “anti-ache mode”, limiting direct responses and acting as a basic research tool, guaranteeing academic integrity, however encouraging autonomous learning. For the Faculty of OPIT, the IA Copilot provides tools to automate the classification, generate learning materials and offer feedback columns that can reduce evaluation times up to 30%, allowing more time for personalized instructions and curriculum design.

Presented at the event “Ai Agents and the Future of Higher Education” hosted by Microsoft in Milan, the launch brought together the best minds of global academic institutions, including the IE University, the Royal College of Art and others. The event highlighted the transformative potential of the I in education, not as a connection but as a pedagogical movement.

“Artificial intelligence is now the environment in which we learn. But he brings cultural and ethical responsibilities,” said Professor Francesco Profumo, rector of Opice and former Minister of Italian Education. “We must build responsible bridges between human and artificial intelligence.”

With mobile-first transactions, communications and learning on the increase in Africa, OPIT has also confirmed the next launch of a mobile app this autumn. The app will allow students to download exercises, summaries and conceptual maps, making high quality and enhanced education more accessible to students throughout the continent, even for those with limited connectivity.

Open Institute of Technology (OPIT) is a accredited global online university that offers degrees and master in software engineering, artificial intelligence, data sciences and digital innovation. Committed to accessible and relevant education for his career, OPIT is building an academic model ready for the future fueled by technology and global inclusion.
