Tinubu regulates a high -level committee for the burial of the Buhari State, Wike among the members

The President of the Tinubu Bola has formed an inter-statement committee to oversee the planning and implementation of the burial of the state for the late former President of Muhammadu Buhari, who died on Sunday in London at the age of 82 years.

The Committee, chaired by the Federation Government Secretary (SGF), Senator George Akume, was assigned to coordinate all arrangements to ensure that the former leader received a dignified and appropriate separation.

According to a statement issued on Monday by Segun Imohiocene, Director of Information and Public Relations, the committee consisted of several main ministers and high -ranking officials.

Members including the Minister of Federal Capital (FCT), Nyesom Wike; Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for Economic; Minister of Budget and Economic Planning; Defense Minister; Minister of Information and National Orientation; Minister of Work; Minister of Home Affairs; Minister of Housing and Urban Development; State Minister for Health and Social Welfare; and Minister of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy.

Also includes senior special assistants for the President about political matters and others; Police Inspector General; Director General of State Service Department; and Defense Chief of Staff.

Imohiocene further stated that the Secretary’s Fixed Office, the Public Service Office (GSO), would function as the Committee Secretariat to provide administrative and logistics support.

As part of the mourning period and to facilitate national participation in respecting the late leader, President Tinubu has directed all ministries, departments and institutions (MDA) to open condolences at the entrance of their offices.

“To honor the late President Muhammadu Buhari, President Tinubu has also directed all ministries, departments and institutions to open a condolence list at the entrance of their respective offices for the public to pay homage to the late statesman,” the statement said.

In addition, the central condolences will be available for diplomatic corps and community members in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the International Conference Center of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Abuja.

“Briefing will further follow when the days are revealed,” added Imohiocene.

The President of Muhammadu Buhari, who led Nigeria both as a military ruler (1983-1985) and then as a second civil president (2015-2023), will be placed in his hometown, Daura, Katsina state, on Tuesday, July 15, in line with Islamic ceremonies.
