Veteran D-Day “Papa Jake” Larson who was the Tiktok star died 102 | US News

A Veteran D-Day who became a social media star in the following years had died at the age of 102.

“Papa Jake” Larson survived the German shot in the June 1944 landing and then gathered 1.2 million followers to share stories about Tiktok to commemorate the second world war and his fell colleagues.

Sharing his death on the platform that discovered many new fans, ‘Story Time with Papa Jake’, his grandson McKaela Larson said he “went peacefully and even made a joke ‘until the end”.

“I am very grateful to have shared my papa jakaku with all of you,” he continued. “You mean the world for him.

“When the time is right, I will continue to share Papa Jake’s story and keep his memory alive. We appreciate all good words and posts. As Papa said, loving you all the best.”

Born on December 20, 1922 in Minnesota, USA, Larson registered at the national bodyguard in 1938, lying his age because he was only 15 years old at the time. In 1942, four years later, he was sent abroad and placed in Northern Ireland.

He became a sergeant operation and gathered a planning book for the Normandian invasion.

He was among nearly 160,000 allied forces that invaded Normandy Shore to D-Day, a survivor of machine guns that survived when he landed on Omaha Beach.

“We are the lucky ones,” Larson told the Associated Press (AP) on the 81st anniversary of D-Day in June, speaking in the middle of a grave in the American cemetery facing Omaha Beach.

“We are their family. We have the responsibility to respect these people who give us the opportunity to live.”

His services during the war made him get a bronze star and the French Legion of Honor award.

In his Tiktok post and interview, Larson combines funny anecdote with gloomy reminders about the horror of war.

After his death, the small town museum and groups around Normand who worked to respect the heroes of D-Day shared tribute to Larson, one of their most loyal visitors.
