Former Federation Government Secretary (SGF), Babachir Lawal, has confirmed the adoption of the African Democratic Congress Coalition (ADC) by the northern block of the National Political Consultative Group as a preferred platform for the 2027 General Election.
Lawal, Chair of NPCG (North) and ADC leading chief in Adamawa State, who revealed this during the press briefing at the end of the NPCG meeting which was expanded into a general meeting held in Abuja on Saturday. (APC) in 2027.
Lawal stressed that at the last meeting of NPCG (North), on May 26, there was a consensus that the block identified with the ADC coalition because it was committed to encouraging unity among North Political Leaders and strengthening collaboration to form a strong political front under one party.
According to him, representatives of all 19 northern states have also agreed that the current administration under the President of Bola Tinubu has failed to overcome the problem of urgent the region.
“The truth of this problem is that we start what we call a consultative forum for the northern politician, but when the momentum is happening, it seems that the whole north has decided that they will join the ADC,” Lawal said.
“So now the difference between what is a national political consultative group and ADC has been blurred. So our people have encouraged us, have directed us, and have mandated us to regulate ourselves in the way we give whatever we want through ADC.
“This is a meeting of northern people, especially to discuss as a family of devil problems in the north and how to find solutions for it, how to prepare for the future, to ensure that our interests – we only choose someone who has northern interests in the heart and who will overcome the challenges faced by northern.

“Because like that, we argue that this government has no interest to solve the problems faced by North – both its infrastructure, be it economy, be it security. So we have to take the ball in our hands and work to reach solutions to our problems.”
He added that the northern stakeholders had decided to mobilize and spread their messages to unite people and adopt an integrated attitude before the next election.
“There is a sense of insecurity, there is economic deprivation, there are marginalization, there are everything that is designed to demean us, which is designed to destroy us, which is designed to not develop us. However, we have determined to enlighten our people and get the support needed to overcome this challenge.
“ADC as a political party is a party established based on democratic principles. And that is our party. We will hold a congress and convention to elect our representatives in the election.
“And whoever appears – be it north, south, central, western, anyone who appears in the congress or at the convention, the ADC will support it, and the northern political consultative group will support the decision.
“I do not believe there is no one in the leadership of ADC or rank and files who believe that the sound does not count. The sound is calculated. And we will ensure that the vote is calculated. This election, the vote will be calculated.
“I told you, forget this fear that the voice will not be counted. APC is a Nigerian party. ADC is one. Any technique, whatever evil activities they throw on us, we will handle it effectively. And we will fight and defeat them in that matter,” he added.
