FG saved a stranded Nigerian worker left by Chinese employer in the car

The federal government has succeeded in saving a group of Nigerian workers who were stranded in the Central African Republic (CAR), following protests over alleged neglect by their Chinese employers.

This development follows the circulation of viral video where the depressed workers requested an urgent intervention after being reported to be abandoned by the Rado Central Coal Mining Company in Bambari, a city located about 850 kilometers from the capital of the car, Bangui.

In response, officials from the Nigerian embassy in Bangui quickly intervened. According to a statement released on Tuesday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nigeria’s mission established contact with affected citizens, recovering their travel documents, and arranged vehicles accompanied by military escort to submit it safe to Bangui.

“Nigerian workers who were stranded in the Republic of Central Africa have been rescued and are currently in custody of the Nigerian embassy in Bangui,” said a ministry spokesman, Kimiebi Ebienfa, announced.

Ebienfa praised the efforts of the embassy staff and recognized the cooperation of the Central African Republic’s authority in ensuring the safe evacuation of workers.

“A very large praise to the staff of the Embassy and the Government of the Republic of Central Africa for the success of the operation,” he said.
