The Anambra State Police Command has charged an intern Chiemerie Anieke and another man Godwin Nwokporo for the alleged murder of Aneke’s employer, Ikechukwu Nwite, and theft of over N8 million belonging to the deceased.
Anieke is said to have killed his employer with a pestle during an argument on February 16 in Fegge, Onitsha. The incident reportedly occurred after the deceased confronted the intern over alleged money theft and drug use.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department arraigned the suspects on March 18, 2026 before the High Court in Onitsha.
“Officers of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Anambra State Police Command, on March 18, 2026, successfully charged two suspects in connection with the murder of one Ikechukwu Simon Nwite and subsequent theft of funds,” the statement read.

Ikenga identified the second accused as Godwin Nnabuike Nwokporo, 21, who allegedly assisted in the crime by providing the bank account used to transfer N8m belonging to the deceased.
“The main suspect, Chiemerie Anieke, aged 21, allegedly used a pestle to hit her employer on the head, resulting in his death. She was charged alongside Godwin Nnabuike Nwokporo, who allegedly provided the bank account used to fraudulently transfer over N8,000,000,” he added.
The police spokesperson further revealed that officers recovered N6m from the suspects, part of the stolen funds, which has been tendered as evidence in court.
According to him, the suspects have been detained in a correctional facility pending further processing.
