OYO 2025 Hit Budget N984 billion as a Assembly approved an additional request for N299.8bn

Oyo State House of the Assembly has approved an additional budget ₦ 299.8 billion, encouraging the total budget size for 2025 from ₦ 684.1 billion to ₦ 984 billion.

The approval, given during the plenary session on Thursday, followed the request of the state executive arm, which quoted the need to overcome the financial priorities and developments that emerged in 33 regional regions.

The Chairperson of the DPR Committee on Budget, Finance and Apropriation, Hon. Sunkanmi Babalola, confirmed the development of journalists shortly after sitting.

According to Babalola, which represents the constituents of the Egned State, “Additional budgets will handle approved funds for the reconstruction of government buildings, retirement of workers and provisions for new national minimum wages.”

He explained that some critical items that were originally arrested in the 2025 budget require immediate attention, requiring additional bill.

“The reality of state financial obligations in the current fiscal year requires a re -assessment,” he said. “This additional apropriation reflects the dynamic nature of governance and the need to respond to the priorities that arise.”

“The increase in the approved additional budget is a step to strengthen the development of infrastructure and social welfare in all states in the midst of increasing economic demands and inflationary pressures,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Parliament also announced that it would be continued at the work recess, where members were expected to monitor and assess the ongoing project in their respective electoral districts.

Governor Seyi Makinde initially presented a budget ₦ 684.1 billion 2025 at the end of 2024, which was later passed by the assembly.
