The National Agency for the Great Green Wall (NAGGW) launched the plantation of 5 million seedlings and other assorted economic trees in the community of Maimalari in the area of the Local Government of Yusufari in the State of Yobe.
Speaking during the flag ceremony, on Monday in the village of Maimalari in the area of the local government of Yusufari in the state of Yobe, the general manager, Alhaji Saleh Abubakar, said that the processing of trees plantation is a continuation of the activities that mark the tenth anniversary of the Agency, which began in Jigawa on July 31st.
Stated that the plantation of trees distributed through the 11 first -line states of the large green wall includes; Borno, Yobe, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Gombe, Bauchi, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi and Adamawa.
He added that when the Palma seedlings and other economic trees have matured and were collected, economic activities would increase in the state significantly.
He added that the initiative turns to 11 northern states, which are seriously affected by the degradation of the soil caused by the invasion of the desert.
He also stated that the initiative will not only help to face the effects of climate change, but it will also increase the means of subsistence and food safety between the affected communities.
Previously in his observations, the commissioner for the Environment of the State of Yobe, Alhaji Sidi Yakubu Karasuwa, said that the program aimed to face the myriad of ecological challenges that face the first -line states of the country while Naggw made great strides in the reversal of the tendency of the north of the Sahara desert in the County.
He observed that the Governor Mai Mala Buni carried out many activities aimed at dealing with the ecological challenges of the state induced by the global phenomenon of climate change.
