30 control prisons are promoted to the Assistant of the General Supervisory Supervisory General

The federal government has approved the promotion of 30 prison controllers to the rank of the Assistant of Financial Supervisory General, as part of an effort to deepen professional excellence and strengthen leadership in Nigerian prison services.

The announcement was made on Tuesday by a public relations officer from Nigeria prison service, Umar Abubakar, who held the rank of the prison controller deputy. He revealed that the approval was conveyed by the Civil Defense, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Defense Council (CDCFIB).

According to Abubakar, its height is in line with the government’s commitment with a achievement -based progress system and is a continuation of the ongoing reform agenda in this service, under the framework of the new hope of the Tinubu Bola President and the leadership of the Minister of the Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-oO.

“Among the newly promoted officers are 27 general task officers who have shown dedication, leadership, and extraordinary operational competencies in various formations nationally,” Abubakar said.

He added that three professional officers were also promoted as recognition of their extraordinary services in the science of medical laboratories, nursing, and public health.

Abubakar noted that this exercise underlined “Ministerial commitment that has never happened before to reposition prison services for greater efficiency and professionalism.”

In related developments, the financial supervisor of the Prison General, Sylvester Nwakuche, congratulated the newly promoted officers, urged them to see their heights as a call for higher responsibilities.

He stressed that promotion functions not only as a recognition for previous performance but also as a challenge to increase service provision, provide strategic leadership, and uphold the core mandate of reform services, rehabilitation, and reintegration of prisoners.

“Services remain committed to building motivated, disciplined, and professional workers who are able to overcome the challenges of modern correctional administration complexes and public safety,” said Nwakuche.
