Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Head of UCHE NNAJI, has warned the members who intend to the Congress of All Progressive (APC) in the Enugu state not to expect automatic tickets or try to hijack the party structure in 2027.
NNAJI stated that this was during the expanded party stakeholder meeting from the party in Enugu on Saturday.
He said that although APC remained open to new members, all candidates, regardless of political status, had to go through the main party process.
The Minister accused that some of the “politicians who were moved politically” had lobbied in Abuja in an effort to join APC and get party control “through the back door.”
Although NNAJI did not mention the name, the statement might not be connected to speculation about the possibility of Governor Peter Mbah who might turn to APC in the state.
He said: “APC has come to remain; that’s why from every corner and gap, people want to join.
“We want people to enter, but we will not give them free tickets; they must participate. Anyone who wants to run for the Governor of the State of Enugu, let him come; we are waiting for them.”
He stressed that the party would welcome the migrants but insisted that the nomination process would be competitive, saying that even President Nigeria or former governor would be asked to participate in preliminary elections.
