Boko Haram rebels launched a deadly attack on Kirawa, a border community in the Gwoza regional government in the state of Borno, on Saturday night, forcing many residents to escape to the neighboring cameras.
Emir Gwoza, HRH Alhaji Mohammed Shehu Timta, and Borno State Police Public Relations officer, ASP Kenneth Daso, confirmed the attack.
According to accounts from residents and local sources, the rebels – were divided into two groups – entering Kirawa around 21:30 through Valle Village and a nearby filling station, fired indiscriminately. The villagers accuse that the commander responsible for the area did not exist in his position during the attack.
The unpredictable report shows that a soldier was killed, with several rebels also lost their lives. The militants reportedly defeated troops, destroyed military bases, and looted weapons and ammunition. They also kidnapped a female student, identified as Aisha.

In a telephone interview on Monday, Emir Timta said: “Yes, I received an emergency call from the Head of the Armed Terrorist Kirawa District invading the city and caused chaos last Saturday. It was unfortunate and surprised to hear that the commander was not on the ground at that time. As stood, many of my people had fled to Cameroon for safety.”
ASP Daso Police Spokesman confirmed the incident, which stated:
“We have received a report on Boko Haram attacks in the Kirawa community in the Gwoza regional government area, but we have not confirmed the number of victims.”
