[CANADA] A queen doctor has been stated guilty by a college of doctors and surgeons of the disciplinary committee of the Saskatchewan of misconduct professional conduct with the staff and patients, including sexual improper with two teenage patients.
Dr. Imofidon Izekor, 42 years old, from Nigeria, who was the owner and practiced in two offices of the Northgate Medical Center (on Avonhurst Drive and the Northgate Mall, was declared guilty of two counts of sexual improper and unable to maintain adequate professional borders with a patient of 16 years and a 19 -year -old patient, according to a decision of a university hearing committee RECLATED AT 7.
Izekor was also stated guilty of unresolved and non -professional communication with his clinic employees.
The college, which is the medical regulation body of the province, initially presented seven accusations against Izekor in March 2022. Two accusations were subsequently withdrawn.
Following a disciplinary hearing of nine days in May of this year, he was declared guilty with two of the accusations relating to his patients.
It was declared not guilty for two other accusations – one of which involved accusations that had engaged in sexual hydropriety and did not maintain adequate professional boundaries with a patient in October 2018, and another who said he had engaged in sexual and non -ethical behavior with an employee, including sexual harasses and employee assistance.
The remaining accusation included several distinct accusations of “inappropriate and non -ethical conduct” with employees, including “not to be able to maintain the appropriate professional boundaries” and “not to be able to treat employees with dignity and respect”. College declared him guilty of some of those accusations and not guilty of others.
● flirt with the patient: decision
The first accusation of sexual impropriety refers to an accident of 1 November 2018 with a 19 -year -old patient who came to the clinic to request a disease note, according to the committee’s decision. It was the first time that the patient saw Izekor.
The patient, who witnessed the disciplinary hearing, said while examining it, said: “Are you sure you are sick? You are fine”, in what the decision says was “a penetting way”.
He continued to tell her that “he had an attractive personality and that he would like to be with his personality,” says the decision.
Izekor also asked her where she worked, how much it was paid and which the rent cost and questioned her relationships and finances, asking: “Why do you work so much? Don’t you have a man in your life to pay your things?” The decision says.
The patient also described him by looking up and down and said while he left, he told her to relax and take care of herself “, biting the lip” in a sexual way “, says the decision.
He also asked if he could call her to plan a follow-up appointment and asked for his personal number, which he later called from his personal phone.
In an answer to his complaint, Izekor said that although he did not believe that the patient was sick, he did not record him in his registers, according to the decision.
However, he said after a “far and backwards,” he agreed to give her a sick note because she was “very brazen”, says the decision.
“Shocked”, “shameful”: 16 -year -old patient
The second accusation derived from an accident of 2 November 2018 involving a patient then 16 years old during an appointment.
According to the summary of the decisions of his testimony, he had originally seen Izekor in 2017 regarding an eye condition and had been sent for blood analysis.
During a 2018 follow-up appointment, Izekor asked her what the age limit was for the boys who came out. He insisted on the fact that “age is only a number” and continued to say that the men of his age were “predators” and “hunters”, according to the decision. Izekor, who is originally from Nigeria, also told her that in her country “men acquire everything”, says the decision.

He also told the patient “” Guys he needs “and continued to make” noises and movements to imitate sex, moaning and grunt “and” swing the pelvis back and forth “, according to the decision.
The patient said that Izekor told her that he should have dinner with him if he ever felt alone and suggested that he could take her out of her home so that she shouldn’t have told her mother.
The patient says that Izekor told her that he could get the results of the blood tests from his home if he wanted. He also says that during his appointment, he asked for his personal phone number, which he then called from his personal number.
The patient described herself “shocked”, “shameful” and “frightened” before leaving the doctor’s office, according to the decision.
In his testimony, Izekor said that his questions to the patient were “necessary from a medical point of view to determine the cause of his jaundice, including questions about sexual activity and drug use”.
He said he had to ask for information on his sexual activity and the use of drugs because HIV, hepatitis B or hepatitis C was possible could have been the cause of his condition.
However, the patient said that Izekor did not discuss with her, nor did he discussed his diagnosis of jaundice or his possible causes.
Izekor also denied having asked her to go out for dinner, he suggested that he could receive test results at his home, he told her that “boys have needs” or have made sexual movements with his hips, according to the decision.
● Stop three times: employee
The third accusation against Izekor came from a former employee who declared that he had worked at the Avonhurst and Northgate clinics as a medical receptionist from 2017 to 2018.
He said: “Or before or after”, he started his work at the clinics and Izekor invited her to discuss work at his home.
He testified that he showed her around the house and sentenced her to her basement, where they sat on a sofa to speak, according to the decision.
Izekor told his men that his age did not know how to take care of women and who needed an older man, “says the decision.
Then she touched her leg and led her to a basement bedroom, where she committed to sexual relations with her despite her protests, she says.
He said later, he handed her the money and said, saying something similar to “you helped me and I will help you”, according to the decision.
Izekor has made progress towards her in the clinic, including inviting her to her office for a “meeting”, where she would proceed to touch her inappropriately and try to embrace and kiss her, says the decision.
He also watched her from a surveillance camera on his workstation and commented how it appeared, he says.
The employee said that his mental and physical health deteriorated after he started working for Izekor, including weight loss, hair loss and stomach problems.
When he spoke with Izekor of his mental health after calling a sick day, he provided her a prescription for depression and anxiety, despite not being his doctor or leading an adequate medical examination, says the decision.
He tried to stop three times, he says the decision. The first two convinced him to return. The third time, he asked them to go to lunch to discuss work.
During lunch, Izekor continued his sexual progress, so he did not return to work for the clinic, according to the decision.
Izekor “denied him to invite her to her home or to be there alone with her,” says the decision, and “he denied sexual contact with [her] at his house. “He also described it as disruptive in the workplace and paranoid”, according to the decision.
The doctor showed up as “Dissami”: decision
In describing the credibility of the witnesses, the decision of the Disciplinary Committee described the testimony of the first patient as a versa “in a simple, still, confident and convincing way”, noting “was not shaken in the cross exam”.
The decision told balance, the committee was satisfied with his testimony “was both credible and reliable”.
The second patient “presented himself as a young articulated, confident, in the balance woman who was also” not seasoned with a rigorous cross exam, “said the decision.
On the contrary, the decision affirms that Izekor “presented himself as arrogant, indignant and satisfied” and “in turn, presented himself as self -pity, victim, exasperated and disagreement”.
Izekor’s hearing also listened to the testimony of others who worked in his clinics and described “heated exchanges” between the doctor and the staff.
The decision of the Disciplinary Committee states that the evidence of disrespectful communication with the Izekor staff was “compelling”.
The decision recognizes that no job is perfect, but says that screaming to employees: “In particular in the presence or distance of the hearing of patients and other staff, it is not only inappropriate, but it is a non -professional and disconcerting conduct” for a doctor.
A penalty hearing should take place next month. [CBC]
