Defending champions Beyond Limits Football Academy of Nigeria made a strong statement at the Gothia Cup 2026, dismantling Swedish side IF Brommapojkarna with a spectacular 7-0 victory at the SKF Arena on Tuesday.
The Group B17 tournament favorite was back to his lethal best, boosted by a masterful performance from striker Memud Olamillekan Frank, who took the match ball after scoring a magnificent hat-trick.
The big win catapulted the Ikenne-based academy back into the upper echelons of the newly structured league phase of the 24-team Gothia Puma Trophy.
After suffering a frustrating 0-0 draw against Peru’s Cantolao AD in their opening match, the Nigerian youth champions needed a dominant response, and they gave exactly that.
Early attack sets the tone
Beyond Limits wasted no time asserting its authority in the field. Just eight minutes into the match, Akpabio Mark found space in the box and clinically scored the ball to give the Nigerian team an early lead.
The Swedish hosts had barely caught their breath when, three minutes later, Olaniyo Precious Olanrenwaju doubled the lead. The quick 2-0 score brought absolute joy to the traveling Nigerian fans and completely shook IF Brommapojkarna’s defensive line.
With the midfield engine coordinating beautiful passing sequences, Beyond Limits comfortably dictated the tempo and pace of the game.
The Memud Frank show begins
Despite creating multiple chances, the Nigerian academy had to wait until just before the half-time whistle to extend their lead further. In the 39th minute, Memud Olamillekan Frank scored the first of the afternoon with a calm finish.
The second half was even more ruthless. Ali Abdulazeez James made it 4-0 in the 45th minute, keeping the pressure firm on the Swedes.
Then Frank completely took over the spotlight. He scored his second goal of the match in the 48th minute and completed his stunning hat-trick in the 55th minute to make it 6-0, leaving IF goalkeeper Brommapojkarna with no answers.
With just one minute left in regulation time, Oyeniran Peter Oluwatunmise capped off a perfect afternoon, sealing the emphatic 7-0 victory in the 59th minute.
