The explanation was offered by the Minister of the Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo when the Ministry held his performance of performance halfway through Abuja on Thursday.

On Thursday, the Nigeria immigration service has announced an increase of one hundred percent of the Inpassport commissions.

In a declaration by his public relations official, Aci as Akinlabi, NIS has declared from 1 September 2025, the applications submitted within Nigeria will attract new commissions of N100,000 for the validity passport to five years of 32 pages and N200,000 for the validity passport at 10 years of 64 pages.

For the Nigerians in the diaspora, they will continue to pay $ 150 for the five -year passport of 32 pages and $ 230 for the 10 -year passport of 64 pages.

Tunji-Ojo said: “Our goal is very clear: within a week of registration, each Nigerian should have a passport in his hand.

“Not only quickly delivering, but delivering quality passports that reflect our integrity as a nation.

“The system we inherited had a six -month backlog, which we were able to cancel in two and a half weeks.

“The Nigerians will require passports and wait indefinitely or they will be asked to pay hundreds of thousands of Naira.

“My daughter had that bad experience.

“Even when I was president of the NDDC Chamber Committee, my daughter wanted a passport, it was a problem.

“I had to pay hundreds of thousands to get a passport for my daughter, a 12 -year -old girl.

“That era is over.”

Tunji-Ojo has revealed that the centralized personalization center, the largest in Africa, would guarantee a faster processing and narrower safety.

He added: “With this structure, we can print five times more passport than we currently need.

“Once you register, it doesn’t take more than 24 hours for vet.

“The printing capacity is no longer our problem.”

The minister revealed that passport control agents will no longer have the power to approve or delay questions, adding: “Some PCOS had so much power that they could decide not to approve or not print a passport until they were resolved.

“This abuse of power ends now.”

He said that centralizing the approval process will give a damn corruption and restore credibility to Nigeria travel documents, adding that the reforms will also protect the integrity of the Nigeria passport.

Tunji-Ojo said: “We realized that the best way to cut corruption is to remove human contact to the simplest minimum.

“The approval of the passport will no longer be based with PCOS.

“My responsibility is not for them, it is to offer efficiency.

“Let the Nigerians be happy.

“My responsibility is not only to make passports available, but to ensure that anyone who brings it is Nigerian.

“If you are not a Nigerian, you can’t take it.

“It concerns our national integrity.

“In an accident, an Ugandan woman who transported a Nigerian passport was arrested at Lagos airport after paying $ 1,000 to get it.

“It cannot continue.

“Our passport must remain a true symbol of Nigerian identity.”
