Matawalle reiterates the support of Nigeria to regional cooperation

The Minister of Defense of Nigeria for Defense, Bello Muhammad Matawalle, has promised that the country will continue to support regional cooperation while Africa works for peace and security.

Speaking in Abuja in a gala evening for the participants in the top of the staff of the African defense leaders, the minister said that unity and collaboration remained the strongest tools of the continent against insecurity.

In a declaration signed by his assistance in the Ahmad Dan-Wudil media on Thursday he said “Tonight, we are not collected for the war, but for the celebration,” Matawalle said to military leaders.

“We are here to reflect on how much we have arrived, honor sacrifices made for peace and we remind ourselves to work in sight in the construction of a safer Africa.”

The event, held between 25 and 27 August, brought together heads of defense from all over the continent. The delegates discussed the safety of borders, anti -terrorism, maritime security and the use of emerging technologies in military operations.

Matawalle praised the visiting commanders for those who described as their tireless efforts to safeguard national sovereignty and regional stability. He said that their presence in Nigeria reflected the lasting ties between the African states.

“Together, we can build an Africa in which every citizen lives in safety and dignity”, added the minister, exhorting military leaders to embrace cooperation and support the values ​​of democracy, equity and respect for human rights.

The summit also examined the ways to deepen civil-military cooperation, in particular in contracts and defense logistics. Participants underlined the importance of regional partnerships to guarantee the vast waterways of Africa.

Matawalle raised a toast to the hope of a peaceful continent, asking the leaders of the defense to support the spirit of friendship forged at the top. “May the team work that we shared here bring results beyond this room,” he said.
