The Candidate of the Labor Party Governor in the 2023 election in the state of Lagos, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
He announced a change at an event held on Saturday at Lagos.
Politicians emphasized that the decision to join ADC was part of a broader coalition by the opposition elements in the country.
Some members of the opposition group led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in July adopted ADC as a platform to seize power from the Congress of All Progressive (APC) in the 2027 election.

At the event, Rhodes-Vivour called for unity among opposition politicians ahead of the election.
He said: “I am happy to be part of this family. I am waiting for the unity and government that will be brought by this party to the Nigerians. My prayer is that God will give our leaders and the structure of the policy party to gather and define new paths for our beloved country.
“This is a coalition that is intended to save Nigeria. I have said since after the 2023 election that we have not been able to share the opposition that entered the next election. We must gather, unite through a strong coalition that will have the opportunity in 2027 to give birth to this country.”
