Representatives call the Minister in the Abuja/Kaduna Railway Train

The DPR Committee for Land Transportation has summoned the Minister of Transportation, Sa’idu Alkali, to appear on the Steam of the Abuja -Kaduna train.

At least six passengers were injured when the train slipped on August 25.

Ultimatum follows the inability of the Minister to respect the previous invitation by the committee regarding the incident on Tuesday.

. The Chair of the Committee, thanks to Onuh, said that the trial was unacceptable by the Minister to “turn his back to the Nigerian people when they really needed it.

He said: “The frog does not walk in the afternoon without results. We are resting, but many of us choose to cut our rest and come far from Lagos because of this national tragedy.

“Only for the minister to insult parliament. We take a strong exception for this. Brothers and sisters are threatened with extinction. This is not a joke.

“Therefore we suspend this meeting and mandate the minister to appear directly within 48 hours,” he said.

Deputy spokesman of the House of Representatives, Philip Agbese, described the absence of ministers as demonstrations of inability and ignoring the people of Nigeria.

“This action clearly shows that he is incompetent to handle the work entrusted to him by the President.

“This is a dangerous signal that he does not care about the lives of the Nigerians or the reputation of this government.

“The President has warned that no ministers or agents must ignore parliamentary invitations.

“This minister has chosen insults. If he fails to appear, the Nigerians must know effectively there is no transportation minister in this country.”

Also speak, Rep. Cyril Hart, regretted how alkalis, which is a former member of parliament, chose to insult the DPR.

“More than 618 Nigerians could have died. This raises a serious question about the integrity of our railroad infrastructure.

“For former members of parliament to avoid this committee when Nigerians need answers is betrayal.

“Even the MD train has a history of trying to join this parliament, so he knows respect because of that. We cannot allow anyone to play with our people’s lives,” he said.
