The Committee will work with a technical working group chaired by the State Commissioner for health, Sani Dambam, to examine the spread of disease.

Jatau, who inaugurated the committee on Friday, emphasized the need for coordinated actions by all stakeholders in the state.

He said: “Repeated outbreaks continue to claim life, disrupt livelihoods, and place enormous tensions in our health system and socio-economic welfare.

“On the 35th week, the state has recorded 258 cases of new cholera and 58 deaths.

“These committees are expected to function as the Central Coordinating Board to lead the multi-sectoral response of the State of Bauchi to the cholera outbreak and to encourage a long-term prevention strategy that is parallel to the national cholera control plan and a broader goal of the Nigerian disease control and prevention center.”
