The Nigerian Senior Oil and Gas Staff Association (Pengassan) has directed its national members to continue the ongoing strike, rejecting social media claims that the court orders have arrested industrial actions.
In official memos to members, Kawan Lumumba Okugbawa’s National Executive Officer praised oil and gas workers for their resilience and convinced them that the association remained committed to achieving their goals.
“On behalf of the national leadership of our great association, I sincerely want to praise all of you for the courage that we show off today in defending what is right. We have just started and victory has been seen,” Okugbawa said.
The trade union clarified that no valid court orders had been served, describing the claims of the order unfounded.
“Our attention has been focused on rumors who carry out a round of court orders that hold our noble exercises. I want to firmly state that we have never been served. The orders or court processes are served through the court bailiff and not through social media,” the direction reads.

Repeating his attitude, Pengassan ordered members to ignore rumors and continue with a strike.
“Therefore, all friends are directed to continue industrial action until further instructions. Only information comes through our official channel that must be considered authentic.”
This memo further urges workers to channel questions through the right leadership structure rather than relying on informal sources.
“Every further clarification you need must be sought from organs higher than the association. Aluta Continua, Victoria Ascerta,” the statement concluded.
