An injury keeps the new Super Eagles defender out of March friendly matches

Trabzonspor defender Chibuike Nwaiwu is in a race against time to be fit for the Super Eagles’ upcoming friendly matches in March, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

As we exclusively reported, the former Enyimba defender is among the new players that coach Eric Chelle plans to invite for the tournament in Jordan during the international break.

However, what would have been his first call-up with the team has suffered a setback after his club confirmed that he will be out for an unforeseeable period due to a quadriceps injury.

The 22-year-old player suffers from bleeding and swelling in his left thigh, diagnosed after his injury in the last Süper Lig match. It was his seventh league appearance since leaving Austrian side Wolfsberger AC in the January transfer market.

Medical examinations have confirmed the injury. The club’s chief doctor, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Beşir, stated that the treatment has already started. The expected time the player will be on the sidelines has not yet been specified.
