The FRSC mobile court convicted 20 motorists

At least 20 motorists have been punished for various traffic offenses by the Ogun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

This was made known on Friday by the Corps Public Relations Officer, Odunsi Afolabi who stated that the offenders were found guilty in the Phase II trial of the FRSC Mobile Court held at the Itori Unit Command and presided over by Chief Judge OT Odunsaya.

According to him, the drivers were charged with various violations, including overloading, excessive speeding and other traffic violations.

Afolabi disclosed that all the offenders had been convicted by the courts, and none had been acquitted during the trial process.

According to him, “A total of 20 violators were charged and subsequently punished. Forty offenses were recorded during the exercise, 39 of which were subject to various fines, while not a single violator was sentenced to prison.”

He explained that the enforcement operation targeted critical safety violations such as failure to install speed limit devices, overloading, not using seat belts, driving license violations, tire violations, irregularities in driving licenses and vehicle number plates, as well as poor vehicle maintenance.

Speaking at the court hearing, the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Akinwunmi Fasakin, said the mobile drill was part of an ongoing law enforcement strategy aimed at strengthening compliance with traffic regulations.

Fasakin noted that the initiative also increases the corps’ operational visibility and serves as a deterrent to reckless driving along key corridors in the state.

He praised the peaceful conduct of the process and acknowledged adequate security provided by armed personnel during the exercise.

The sector commander therefore urges motorists to adopt safe driving habits and ensure proper vehicle documentation to prevent road accidents, injuries and deaths.

He reiterated the corps’ commitment to taking action against traffic violators whose actions endanger the lives of other road users.
