FBI cracks down on Pro-Iran hackers after Stryker cyberattack

The FBI has taken control of two websites linked to the pro-Iran hacktivist group Handala, following the group’s claim of responsibility for a damaging cyberattack on US medical technology company Stryker.

One site had been used by Handala to publicize the hack, while another was used to dox dozens of individuals allegedly linked to Israeli defense contractors, including Elbit Systems and NSO Group. Both sites now display banners announcing the federal seizure.

US authorities indicated that the domain was believed to be operated in coordination with foreign state actors. “Law enforcement authorities determined this domain was used to conduct, facilitate, or support malicious cyber activity on behalf of, or in coordination with, foreign state actors,” the seizure notice said.

In response, Handala condemned the action on his official Telegram channel, calling the seizure “a desperate attempt to silence our voices” and asserting that the group’s mission would continue despite the disruption.

The group’s statement described the FBI’s actions as censorship, while US authorities said the actions were taken to disrupt ongoing malicious operations and prevent further exploitation.
